Happy September! It is coming time to say goodbye to summer and welcome the fall season. Here are some updates that may be of interest:
DPAC Meeting
Register now for the DPAC Fall Full Membership Meeting! The meeting will be held Thursday, October 20th at the MSU Kellogg Center, from 9:30am-3:30pm, with an orientation session starting at 9:00am.
Reasons to attend:
- share the latest information from your organization
- learn what is new across the state in diabetes prevention and management
- receive information on the new Michigan Diabetes Action Plan
- network with others working in diabetes prevention and control
- learn about the new Michigan CMS Primary Care Transformation Grant, Type 2 Diabetes VA Benefit, and latest in sleep and diabetes

MDCH Obesity Summit
Come learn about the obesity epidemic in Michigan, best practices and ongoing efforts, and assist in the development of statewide priority strategies to address obesity. National Preparedness Month
September is National Preparedness Month. Planning leads to successful evacuations for natural disasters, hazards, and emergency situations. For people with chronic conditions such as diabetes, it is even more important to be prepared. For important resources for people with diabetes, please see

Data Driven Detroit
Additional data and mapping resources from City Connect Detroit. A new addition is a Census 2000 to 2010 data comparison tool for all of Michigan. For more information, please see

Prevention Services Covered Under ACA
The Kaiser Family Foundation published a new brief detailing the new preventive services covered under private health plans as a result of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The short brief gives an overview of the new changes and also a handy summary table. Please see the
