New Preventive Service Guidelines
Effective August 1, women will now receive new preventive health services at no additional cost. Recently announced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), these guidelines were developed by the Institute of Medicine (IOM). The new guidelines require new health insurance plans to cover women's preventive services including screening for gestational diabetes and well-woman visits without charging a co-payment, co-insurance or a deductible. DPAC Prevention Workgroup Provider Guidelines
The Prevention Workgroup has updated their document on diabetes and prediabetes guidelines. These recommendations, based on the 2011 ADA Clinical Practice Recommendations, come in a easy to read,
handy one page sheet.
PATH Master Training
There is an upcoming Personal Action Towards Health (PATH) Master Training session on September 12-16 in Okemos, Michigan. There is no cost to attend. There is a significant time committment and all applicants must be affiliated with an organization that holds an active license from Stanford University. Please see

New Diabetes and Tobacco Module
The MDCH Diabetes Prevention and Control Program offers two free contact hours through web based independent study modules. Continuing education credits are available for nurses, dieticians, medical assistants and other workers. The latest module is on tobacco. To participate please visit

NDEP Resources
