Gestational Diabetes Fact Sheet
Due to increasing data and recently revised diagnostic criteria on gestational diabetes, the MDCH Diabetes Unit has released its first Gestational Diabetes in Michigan Fact Sheet.

Borgess Diabetes Symposium
The annual Borgess Diabetes Clinical Symposium, "Navigating the Maze of Clinical Information" will be on April 26th in Kalamazoo. This is offered at no charge, however advance registration is required by April 15th, 2011. CMEs will be offered. View the flyer.

Tobacco and Diabetes Webinar
Tobacco Research Intensive Lecture Series (TRILS) will present a week long series on Tobacco and Co-Occurring Health Risks and Disparities. Its first lecture will be on Diabetes this coming Monday, April 4th from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Pre-Registration is not needed and CEUs will be available. View the flyer.

DaRE ACCORD Translation Brief
In light of the need to examine, clarify, and disseminate the ACCORD findings, the Data, Research and Evaluation (DaRE) Workgroup recently developed an updated ACCORD Translation Brief. 2011 County Health Rankings
Published by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the County Health Rankings help counties understand what influences how healthy residents are, how long they will live, and how they in overall health to other counties. The Rankings look at a variety of measures that affect health such as the rate of people dying before age 75, high school graduation rates, access to healthier foods, air pollution levels, income, and rates of smoking, obesity and teen births. The measures also include clinical care indicators such as diabetic screening and preventable hospital stays. To see how healthy your county is, please visit: www.countyhealthrankings.org/

NDEP School Guide
The National Diabetes Education Program (NDEP) has recently released its updated Helping the Student with Diabetes Succeed, A Guide for School Personnel . The purpose of the guide is to educated school personnel on effective diabetes management, including best practices.
